shahnameh “Epic of Kings” is clearly the greatest literary work in Persian language.  It is a monument of poetry and historiography consisting of some 60,000 verses telling mainly the mythical and to some extent the historical past of (Greater) Iran from the creation of the world until the Islamic conquest of Persia in the 7th century.

This remarkable  work of Ferdowsi is of central importance in Persian culture, regarded as a literary masterpiece, and definitive of ethno-national cultural identity of Iran.

Come listen to two scholars in Shahnameh, Dr. Ghasem Bayat and Mr. Shahin Nezhad narrating chapters of Shahnameh and commenting on the social, philosophical, historical, and literary impacts of Ferdowsi’s monumental work. We get together on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
